A problem I encountered and how I managed to solve it

I take sailing as my CCA in school and I am also in the national sailing squad. Having take part in  numerous competitions, I know that any problem, either major or minor, could be the defining point of your competition. Fortunately for me, I have not encountered any problems during my sailing career, well, until recently. Now, let me relate it to you now.........

It was during the December holidays and I was participating in a sailing competition. I was so excited about it! At eleven'oclock we started the competition. Suddenly, as the race was about to start, tragedy struck, my kicker broke! The kicker is a bunch of ropes that connects the boom to the boat and makes sure that it is firm.

I was so distraught when my kicker broke! I had practised so much for this regatta and now all my efforts had now went up in smoke! Or had I thought. All of a sudden. my always reliable coach, Xiao Dong, apperared out of nowhere and started to fix with the rope. To me, he was like the knight in shining armour who had come to rescue the damsel in distress. Within a minute i was good and ready to go.

To put the icing on the cake, I even manged to fininsh first in that race! This "problem" reminded me of the importance of checking your equipment, and having a reliable person to rely upon,

A momet spent alone doing something I enjoy

One of those things that I like to do alone is running. Running is a sport that requires a certain level of stamina and fitness if you want to take it competively which is what 2 of my classmates do as a CCA. However if you are to take running leisurely like me, you will find that it is a very relaxing and refreshing sport. Normally, when I go running, I run for about 5 kilometres. Whenever I run, I fell "free" as this is the only time I get to get out of the house.

I also need to run as running helps me improve my stamina as I will need to stamina as I will need stamina whenever I hike out during sailing. Running also helps meimprove my mental stamina, thus I can study into the wee hours of the night without falling asleep. I hope that this year, with all my additioinal training, I will be able to break the 9:30 mark for my 2.4km for my NAPFA.

Running helps me reduce the risk of contacting chronic diseases when I grow older as running helps me burn the fat in my body and reduce my BMI. By burning my body fat, it helps unclog my arteries and reduces the risk of me suffering  a heart attack. When I grow older, it helps improve my blood circulation and helps remove waste materials from my bloodstream via sweating.

All in all, running is a good sport for everyone that helps them reduce weight and improve their stamina

Something that took place in school

During the first week of school, the school announced that Ryan Lo, a Secondary 2 sailor had won the bronze medal during the December Guanghou Asian Games for sailing. His achievements brought glory and honours to my school, Victoria School. For example,Ryan is the youngest ever medallist for Singapore at the Asian Games. Ryan also won the 7th placing at the IODA Optimist World Championships which was located at Langkawi, Malaysia.

Ryan also gave a short speech detailing how he managed to do well in both competitions and what he experienced during those 2 competitions. Ryan said that he managed to achieve these fantastic results by working hard and possesing a never say die attitude. He also made many new friends during the competitions which is the real meaning of all competitions, which is to have fun and make friends.

Being a sailor myself, I know how it feels like to be out there sailing . It is definitely easy, which is what several people think, that sailing is one of those "easy" sports. While you are sailing, you will always be aware of your surroundings . As you have to look out for the current and the windshifts. Having said that, sailing is also a sport that helps you manage your time better, improve your attitude, etc. etc.

I have sailied with Ryan before in several competitions for the past years , however, I lose to him most of the time, beating him in only a few competitions. Maybe, maybe just one day, I will be able to be like him, maybe even better than him and represent Singapore at major international competitions.

A moment spent with my family

During the December holidays my family and I went to Hong Kong for 7days and 6 nights. We left for Hong Kong on the 15th of December. It was a very fun and enriching hliday. During the first 2 days, we went to Honk Kong Disneyland. We got to Hong Kong Disneyland via the train that was based on a Disney design! At Disneyland, we went to take photos at several exhibits of all the Disney stars.Eg: Mickey and Minnie mouse, Pluto, Goofy and Emporor Zurg.XD! Also, at Hong Kong, we ate many kinds of delicious local food, for example dim sum ,wanton mee and steamed dumplings which were extremelt sumptious! After spending the day at Disneyland taking pictures which is located on Lantao island, we then stayed back to see the Hong Kong Disneyland fireworks which lasted for a full 10 minutes! After that, we went to Kowloon. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The next day, my family and I went shopping around Kowloon, visiting shopping malls and small shops. The following day,we went to Ocean Park, which is like a massive themepark with cool rides and games, You even get to ride a cable car as you will have to use a cable car to get across to the part where all the rides are located. The cable car ride, gives you a breathtaking view of the ocean. After, reaching, my brother and I quickly ran to the nearest ride which was called the "Dragon". It was a massive roller coaster that had 3 loops that would freak you out. It was SO exhilrating! As it was so fun,we decided to again! All in all, we went on the Dragon roller coaster, 5 times in a row! The only negative point was when during lunch, when I went to order my lunch at McDonalds, the auntie serving me at the counter did not understand the meaning of "upsize", thus I was stuck with smaller fries and a smaller drink.ZZZZZZZ.

After a long and tiring day at Ocean Park, we called it a day and went home dog tired but very happy. The next few days were full of nothing but shopping, shopping and MORE shopping. LOL. It was so boring.

Finally, it was time for us to leave Hong Kong and return to Singapore. I thouroughly enjoyed my visit to Hong Kong and hope to visit it again soon!

Something unusual that happened that day

Hi everyone, I would like to share something unusual that happened last week. Last week, while I was coming home from school, I saw a black dog and a white dog fighting as I passed by the Tampinese Stadium. Being a curious teenager I quickly stopped to see the two animals fight it out in a 1v1 skirmish. It was SO funny and hilarious to watch and I was laughing so much that I nearly cried. However, I still did not understand the reason for the animals fighting. Soon, the animals antics drew a crowd of curious onlookers who were busy taking pictures and videos of the 2 animals. The two animals continued on fighting, not bothering with the people who were looking at them. It was quite an even match between the 2 dogs. however it was clear that the white dog was gaining the upper hand.

After about 10 minutes and the black dog getting scratched badly by the white dog, the fight was over, the white dog had won. The crowd soon left. After the black dog had left, it was clear what had started this'dog fight' . A piece of dog shit was lying on the floor...... "Yuck!" I thought to myself. What an unusual way to start a fight. LOL
